There’s something pretty special that happens when a small group of people gels so well.
Many arrive as strangers, and a couple of weeks later they’ve shared an extraordinary adventure together. They’ve laughed, eaten, explored, experienced a few surprises and discovered an India that, for many, has completely changed the way they see this incredible country.
One of my favourite things is hearing everyone making plans to catch up once they’re home. Because how do you possibly explain everything you’ve just experienced to anyone else? These are the people who were there. They get it. And now they have an amazing collection of stories and memories to reminisce about together.
To everyone who joined me on Taste of India 2026, thank you. Thank you for trusting me to show you the India that I know and love. It really is a privilege to share it with you.

![From flower markets to block printing to sizzling aloo tikki… Jaipur certainly knows how to send us off! 🌸🫖🛍️
Our last full day in Jaipur on the Taste of India Tour started early at the bustling vegetable and flower markets. What a way to wake up! A hive of activity with mountains of fresh produce, armfuls of brilliant flowers and that fabulous Jaipur combination of colour, chaos and commerce happening all around us.
There was even time for a little laughing yoga and a cup of chai before we headed back to freshen up. Then it was off to try our hand at traditional block printing, the centuries-old textile printing technique for which Jaipur is famous. Harder than it looks, but so much fun!
And how else to finish a day like this? Street food in the Old City! 🌶️
This aloo tikki was a hot favourite. Crispy, spicy, sizzling straight from the pan and absolutely delicious. That sound. That smell. Mouthwatering!
Markets, making, eating and plenty of laughing in between. A pretty fabulous final full day in Jaipur. 💗🇮🇳

![Just another perfectly normal day in Jaipur… palaces, elephants, shopping and a night at the polo! 🐘🐎🛍️🇮🇳
Our second day of Taste of India exploring the Pink City started at the magnificent Amer Fort, including the ridiculously beautiful Ganesh Pol, one of those places where you simply have to stop and take it all in.
Then it was off to visit Rangamala and Lakshmi, two gorgeous elephants now happily living out their retirement at a local elephant sanctuary. Always such a special experience to spend time with these gentle giants 🐘❤️
A little retail therapy followed, because this is Jaipur after all, before we swapped bazaars for ponies and headed to the @rajasthanpoloclub for an evening of night polo.
Under the club’s brand-new night lighting, we watched the Jaipur team in action. Fast, exciting and such a fabulous way to finish another BIG day in this extraordinary city.

The energy. The colour. The chaos. It’s just so much fun!
There’s something about Jaipur that gets me every time. No matter how often I visit, there’s always something new to discover and NEVER enough time to do it all.
My biggest tip for anyone planning a visit? Allow more time in Jaipur than you think you’ll need! Trust me, you’ll thank me later.
Day 11 of our Taste of India Tour was a perfect example. We started with the magnificent City Palace, squeezed in a little retail therapy (because Jaipur shopping is seriously hard to resist!) and finished with a fabulous hands-on cooking experience in a local home. Delicious food, wonderful hospitality and plenty of laughs along the way.
History, colour, creativity, incredible food and SO much fun. Jaipur really does have it all.
And tomorrow? More Jaipur adventures await! 🩷

![First time or tenth time, nothing quite prepares you for the Taj Mahal 🤍
I’ve seen it many times now, and I’m yet to meet anyone who has walked through those gates and been disappointed.
It’s an early start, but watching the first light of the day fall across the white marble of the Taj Mahal is one of those travel experiences that is absolutely worth getting out of bed for.
The scale. The extraordinary symmetry. The intricate inlay work. The way the marble seems to change colour as the sun rises. And then, of course, there’s the story behind it all, an emperor’s breathtaking homage to the woman he loved.
You can see thousands of photographs of the Taj Mahal, but they simply don’t prepare you for standing in front of it.
Epic. Breathtaking. And every single time, completely magical. 🇮🇳

![DAY 7: Delhi turned the volume ALL the way up! 🇮🇳
This was a BIG day on our Taste of India Tour. Busy, colourful, chaotic, fascinating and completely brilliant.
We plunged into the wonderful madness of Old Delhi, weaving through narrow lanes and bustling bazaars by bicycle rickshaw, surrounded by people, traffic, food, noise and seemingly endless activity. Then a complete change of pace at the magnificent Humayun’s Tomb, one of Delhi’s great Mughal masterpieces. And then came something really special.
In the evening we headed into Nizamuddin for a private qawwali performance. Atmospheric, powerful and incredibly moving, it was one of those experiences that stays with you. We finished with a delicious homemade meal, the perfect end to an extraordinary day.
It was a BIG day, but an awesome one. The kind of day that really gets you under the skin of this crazy, energetic, endlessly fascinating city.

![FOUR TONNES OF TEA. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY from this one tea factory! 🍃☕
That’s the equivalent of a staggering 1.75 million cups of tea! And on Day 5 of our Taste of India Tour, we discovered exactly how it all happens.
We spent the most fabulous morning exploring the lush, emerald-green tea plantations of Munnar in Kerala. Walking through endless rows of tea bushes, watching the skilled tea pickers at work, encountering a few wandering cows and soaking up those extraordinary views across the hills. Absolutely gorgeous!
Then it was off to a working tea factory to follow the journey from freshly picked leaf to your morning cuppa. From withering and rolling to oxidation, drying, sorting and packing, there’s an incredible amount of skill and precision involved.
This is what I love about travelling in India. Getting out into the countryside, meeting the people, learning something new and discovering the stories behind the things we take for granted.

![Sometimes the best way to experience India is to simply slow right down… 🌴
Cruising the Kerala backwaters aboard a traditional kettuvallam is always one of the highlights of my time in South India.
There’s no rushing. No ticking off sights. You simply sit back and watch Kerala life unfold around you.
Glide past tiny villages, coconut palms and paddy fields. Watch fishermen at work, children heading home, locals travelling between villages and everyday life happening along the water’s edge.
It’s peaceful, ridiculously beautiful and wonderfully relaxing. A chance to stop, breathe and just take it all in.
And that’s exactly why I include a backwaters experience on every one of my South India journeys.
Sometimes you don’t need to do anything to experience a place. You just need to be there. 🇮🇳🌴

![Months of planning. Months of anticipation and finally… WE’RE HERE! 🇮🇳✨
Day One of our #TasteofIndia Tour and Kochi has welcomed us with warmth, colour, incredible food and that unmistakable buzz of India.
There’s something pretty special about finally bringing together a group who have been looking forward to this moment for months (and months!). Old friends reunited, new faces becoming friends and conversations already flowing as everyone starts making those connections that can turn a great trip into something really memorable❤️
And India certainly didn’t let us go hungry…it’s been a day of eating!
We sat down to the most glorious seafood feast for lunch - platters piled high with fresh fish, crab and lobster, giant and jumbo prawns, shrimp, calamari and more. Fresh, messy, delicious and completely mouthwatering. 🦐🦀🦞🐟
Then it was out to explore, wandering the quaint little laneway of Mattancherry - colourful corners, old buildings, tiny shops and glimpses of everyday life - before a cocktail (or two) by the pool this afternoon and a stroll along the seafront with the warm air coming off the water early this evening.
And then tonight we were invited to a huge soirée at our hotel, so it was time to swap our wandering clothes for something a little more glamorous ✨🥂
And that’s only Day One.
Taste of India is officially underway… 🇮🇳🌴❤️

![I’ve seen plenty of elephants 🐘 on all my visits to India, but NEVER, ever like this - in the wild.
I’m in Periyar in Kerala doing some hotel and experience research and this morning we headed into the National Park with a nature guide, hoping we might be lucky enough to spot an elephant.
Well…within FIVE MINUTES, this gorgeous family appeared. 🐘🐘🐘
Completely wild. Completely unexpected. And just quietly going about their morning while we stood at a distance watching in absolute awe.
There’s something incredibly special about seeing elephants in their natural habitat - no fences, no feeding, no interaction. Just us lucky enough to be in the right place at exactly the right time.
It’s mornings like this that remind me why I spend so much time on the ground in India, researching new places and experiences. You simply never know what you’re going to discover.

Here’s the thing: in India, spice doesn’t necessarily mean heat. It means FLAVOUR.
Indian cooking uses an extraordinary range of fresh spices - cumin, coriander, cardamom, turmeric, mustard seed, fenugreek, cinnamon and so many more - layered together to create food that is fragrant, complex, rich and absolutely delicious.
Yes, you can find seriously hot food in India🔥 But you’ll also find beautifully subtle curries, creamy dals, fragrant biryanis, crisp dosas, fresh breads and dishes where there’s barely a chilli in sight.
And every region is different - which is one of the great joys of travelling around India. The food changes constantly as you travel.

![Gosh, if these walls could talk…
The Itimad-ud-Daulah, or the “Baby Taj” as it’s often known, was built in the 1620s by Empress Nur Jahan as a tomb for her father. Set in a beautiful garden on the banks of the Yamuna River, not far from its rather more famous neighbour, it’s one of Agra’s absolute gems.
It’s often described as a precursor to the Taj Mahal and you can see why. Built from white marble and covered in the most exquisite pietra dura inlay work, the craftsmanship is just extraordinary. Look closely and you’ll find intricate flowers, geometric patterns and semi-precious stones worked into the marble.
But one of the things I love most about the Baby Taj? There are far fewer visitors.
India can be wonderfully busy, colourful and chaotic, but it’s absolutely possible to escape the crowds. Places like this are proof of that.
A quiet garden. An extraordinary building. And a little pocket of calm beside the Yamuna.
Definitely one of my favourite spots in Agra. ✨

![Prepping for service…this restaurant in Jaipur is hardly a secret spot, but so many people enjoy a meal here. The stunning @barpalladio offers a menu of Mediterranean classics but it’s the interior design that captures most of the attention.
It’s a glorious riot of cobalt blue, intricate hand-painted details, soaring arches and fabulous florals. Dramatic, theatrical, completely over the top and utterly gorgeous. There really is nowhere quite like it.
As the sun goes down and the candles are lit, it becomes even more magical. It’s one of Jaipur’s most beautiful places to settle in for a cocktail and dinner - and, unsurprisingly, one of the most photographed.

Shop after shop is filled with the most extraordinary lehengas - huge skirts covered in intricate embroidery, sequins, beads and sparkling jewels, paired with equally elaborate blouses and dupattas.

It’s an impossible question. I’ve tried to pick one. I can’t. But these four get me every time…
Delhi – for the glorious chaos of Old Delhi. Give me a rickshaw, the laneways of Chandni Chowk and a plate of something delicious from a street-side stall and I’m happy.
Jaipur – for the colour, the shopping and the craftsmanship. I could spend days disappearing into bazaars, discovering textiles, jewellery and beautiful things I definitely do not need but somehow always come home with.

Varanasi – for sunrise on the Ganges. Watching the city slowly wake from a little wooden boat, as people bathe, pray and begin their day along the ghats, is one of those India experiences that stays with you forever.

“Is India safe?”
Often asked, almost always by someone who has never been.
Here’s my honest answer. I’ve been going for twenty-five years and I now spend around six months of every year there. You absolutely need to be careful, but like all destinations, if you make sensible decisions and take the necessary precautions, you will be safe.
That isn’t luck. It’s knowing which driver, which hotel, which street after dark, and who to ring when something needs sorting. On tour there are never more than a dozen or so of us and I’m there for all of it - not meeting you at the airport and handing you to a local rep.
The part I’d push harder than safety: travel insurance.
Not because India is risky, but because things go wrong the same way they go wrong anywhere. A cancelled connection out of Auckland or Sydney. A head cold that costs you two days. Something at home that means you can’t go at all. Take the policy out when you pay your deposit, not the week before you fly, and read what it says about pre-existing conditions and cancellation. It’s the one piece of admin I won’t let a guest skip.

Buy fabric by the metre, or dig through ready-made pieces: bags, totes, tablecloths, quilts, jackets, pyjamas, more than you can carry. It’s a proper rummage, and half the fun is not knowing what you’ll find.

The answer is... sometimes!
India is a huge country with an incredible range of climates. You can be wrapped up in a jacket in Kashmir, enjoying perfect spring days in Rajasthan, or sipping tea in the cool hills of Kerala - all at different times of the year.
One of the things I spend a lot of time thinking about is when to travel, not just where. Every tour is carefully timed to make the most of the season, whether that’s blue skies, comfortable sightseeing weather, colourful festivals or spectacular landscapes.
So no, you don’t need to spend your holiday melting in 40-degree heat. You just need someone who knows when to go.
